At Tembo NYC, it’s always been about more than just design—it’s about using my skills to make a real difference. As a designer, I’ve always believed that what we create can have a meaningful impact on the world. That’s why I’m proud to support the ACLU, whose mission aligns with my values, especially with what’s happening right now with immigration rights and voting rights. By donating 5% of Tembo NYC product profits to the ACLU, I’m using my work and platform to help fuel their fight for due process, justice and civil liberties.
The ACLU: Defending Rights and Fighting for Justice
The ACLU has been defending our rights since 1920, but today, their work feels more urgent than ever. Immigrants are facing inhumane kidnappings and detention, and voting rights are being challenged more than ever. The ACLU is out there every day fighting to protect our freedoms, and I’m proud to do my part to support their mission.
Why I Stand Up
I’ve never been one to just complain without doing something about it. If I hated a job, I didn’t stick around—I made a change. The same goes for political injustices. I believe in action, no matter how small. As Jane Goodall says, “Cumulatively small decisions, choices, actions, make a very big difference.”
So here’s what I do: I write and call my local and state reps to let them know where I stand (and yes, I’ve sent quite a few pretty stern letters to Chuck Schumer). I’m also involved with my local Indivisible group, working with others who care about the same things. And I show up to march for justice. We need 3.5% of the population to rise up and take a stand to change a corrupt government. The marches are growing, and I’m excited to be part of it. I hope you’ll join me!
Here’s how you can take action and make a difference:
- Call or write to your local and state representatives to express your concerns about immigration rights and voting rights.
- Join a local Indivisible group to stay connected and active with others who are fighting for social justice.
- Show up and march—every step counts in this fight for justice.
It’s about doing what you can—no matter how small. Together, we can create real change.
